Today was the big day. Picked up the CamperVan. All went pretty smoothly with the exception that the “large storage compartment" that was promised to be large enough for our golf bags was only about a foot square and 8 feet long! Oh no! Where to put the clubs? Luckily there was a bed above the driver’s cabin, so we were able to store them there. We worried for a while, but we put everything away, and off we went!
Norman did so well driving on the left, standard transmission, with the shifter on the left. He was born to be a Kiwi. I was a nervous wreck as we drove to a mall to get groceries and other “housekeeping” items. (Thank goodness we rented a GPS to call out the directions, which certainly takes the pressure off of me.) Trying to find a place to park was a nightmare. We finally decided to park in the tow zone, and Norman stayed while I shopped.
We then drove to a local campsite in Helensville,and got to know the ins and outs of camper living. Norman cooked a delicious New Zealand salmon dinner on our new bar-b-que grill. Not too exciting a day, but had to be done. Got a good night’s sleep, so I feel a lot better.
